Ground Balls

One of the most important skills a lacrosse player can know is picking up a ground ball. No matter your experience level, if you can pick up a ball you can contribute to the team. By obtaining possession of the ball, your team now has an opportunity to score. Statistically, for every 3.3 ground balls one goal is scored!

The proper form for scooping up a ball is getting low, getting both hands low, scooping "through" the ball, bring the ball to your face mask, and then moving away from pressure. If practiced, one can learn to fluidly pick up a ball in a full sprint and then quickly pass the ball to a teammate.
