2021 NO REGRETS Summer Program

No Regrets Lacrosse’s mission is to grow the game of lacrosse in South Texas.

Our goal is to provide an opportunity for all of the youth on the Gulf Coast of Texas to try the game that we have fallen in love with.

NO REGRETS is operated by the Texas Bay Area Coaching Staff.

Coaches from Gulf Coast Storm Girls lacrosse and  Friendswood Youth lacrosse will also be working with the players.

Location: Sylvan Rodriguez Park - 1201 Clear Lake City Blvd Houston, TX 77062
When: Mondays & Wednesdays 6-8 pm (May 31st thru June 25th) An additional day, Tuesday or Thursday will be added if we get enough High school players that want to learn to play lacrosse.

Format: One Hour of instruction (drills and game mechanics), one hour of playing/scrimmage (this may vary by age group)

New: We are going to open up the registration to HS students that want to try out lacrosse in a stress-free environment.

It will begin on May 31st and run through June 25th. It is open for (school year 2020-21) boys and girls grades K-11.  Last year we had to cancel the summer program due to the pandemic. But over the past 6 years we have worked with hundreds of kids; learning, playing and having fun. We keep the equipment to a minimum, sticks, mouthguards, and a soft lacrosse ball. There is no contact. The focus is on fundamentals, footwork, and having fun. This year we will have 6 fields going.

US Lacrosse has developed guidelines for boys and girls for small-sided games. Small-sided games consist of 3 vs 3 lacrosse, with or without a goalie. Using a 3 vs 3 gameplay model, all competitors will see increased touches and will continue to hone their lacrosse skills. Building off small-sided principles already utilized in certain parts of the country, it’s a blueprint for leagues and organizations to prepare their players for the eventual transition to full-field competition. This reflects the guidelines proposed by US Lacrosse for small-sided youth play.

The summer session will last 4 weeks, May 31st- June 25th on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Each weekly session will be 2 hours long, the first hour will consist of warm-ups, fundamental drills, and instruction. The second hour will be allotted for the 3 vs 3 scrimmages.

There will be a $40.00 registration fee. This fee will cover the cost of the summer program pinnies and printing for the players and the costs of purchasing the required field equipment, i.e. 3x3 goals, practice balls, soft sticks, and miscellaneous expenses.

The registration fee may be waived for families that are experiencing financial hardship. This will be reviewed by Todd, Brett, and Jim on a case by case basis. We do not want to turn a child away because of money issues.

All funds generated through the summer program will be used for summer program activities, equipment, or other resources deemed necessary for the youth players. In the past, we purchased 30 Thompson wallball boards and distributed them to both the boys and girls teams.

A waiver will be completed for all participants, and a US Lacrosse membership is recommended for all parties on the field

Opened: 04/18/2021
